New Firewall Addresses Association's Growing Needs

CLIENT
Air Force Association

PROJECT NAME
Air Force Association

OVERVIEW
The Air Force Association's firewall was reaching the end of its life. Additional nodes required expansion of the internal IP subnet. Backup hardware was reaching capacity and time allowance. In short, the AFA was short on time.

NMR Consulting began with a comprehensive review of the AFA's network security needs. Based upon those findings, NMR designed and deployed new firewall and client VPNs for secure remote connectivity, new virtual subnet schema, and a new tape library to expedite data backup and recovery.

NMR deployed AFA's new firewall with minimal downtime. The Air Force Association, included in the design and deployment of the firewall solution, was happy with their hands-on involvement and this offered lower TCO for future adjustments. The new virtual IP scheme allowed for four times as many nodes while providing traffic shaping for priority data communications, and the tape solution was integrated with zero downtime and zero data loss. Previous backup hardware investment was redeployed as a redundant solution.
