M2C Veterans Transition Assistance Program a Success

NMR Consulting’s M2C Program Helps Veterans Transition to the Civilian Workforce

CHANTILLY, Va., March 27, 2013 – According to participant feedback, NMR Consulting’s first Military-to-Civilian (M2C) Transition Assistance Program was a success. Held on March 26, 2013, the workshop helped 11 veterans from all branches of the military with their transition to the civilian workforce.

“For this first event, we wanted to keep the group size modest,” said NMR Consulting Director of Human Resources Kristin Barrette. “A smaller group would allow us to work with each person individually, which was extremely important to us.”

Held at NMR’s Va. headquarters, M2C’s day-long workshop consisted of three interactive sessions: Interviewing Techniques, Résumé Writing, and Social Media. Each session taught transitioning and recently separated service men and women how to effectively search for civilian careers and interview, thereby increasing their chances for a successful transition.

One-on-one interaction with instructors and assistants gave each M2C participant personal attention, ensuring their individual needs and goals were met.

“M2C’s one-on-on assistance separates it from other transition assistance programs,” said David Garcia, NMR’s president and CEO. “At M2C, veterans sit down with real experts and get individualized, hands-on help. We felt that would provide the most impact in a one-day program.”

M2C was presented by NMR’s staff and representatives from other organizations including, Integrated Systems Solutions, Inc. (ISS), Strategies for Human Resources, Triaem, and Fluet Huber + Hoang.

Because of the exceptional participant response, NMR plans to hold the next M2C Program in September 2013.
