NMR Consulting Brings M2C to Rocket City
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., May 27, 2014 – NMR Consulting, a Virginia-based Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), took its successful Military-to-Civilian (M2C) Transition Assistance Program on the road! On Friday, May 16, 2014, 21 veterans and transitioning service members met at the Redstone Federal Credit Union in Huntsville, Ala. (HSV) to receive personalized expert advice on their résumés, social media profiles, and interviewing skills.
NMR, an IT integration and program management company, created the M2C Program one year ago at its headquarters in Chantilly, Va. The program has received rave reviews from participants. M2C-HSV followed an agenda similar to that of the M2C programs held at NMR headquarters, but with nearly double the amount of participants.
“This was our inaugural workshop in Huntsville and it was the combined efforts and expertise of our staff and volunteers that made it both successful and enjoyable,” said NMR President and CEO David Garcia. “Giving back to our service members is a cause very dear to me and it is an honor to be able to host M2C in the Huntsville community.”
M2C-HSV was hosted in partnership with Still Serving Veterans, a well-known Huntsville-based non-profit that empowers veterans and their families to optimally transition into post-military lives. The program was also supported by local human resources experts from companies including Aerotek, ALATEC, Always a Soldier, Booz Allen Hamilton, COLSA, Snelling Staffing, Harlan Lee & Associates, and Dynetics.
City and state leaders were part of the day as well: Mayor of Madison Troy Trulock served on the Q&A panel, and Alabama State Senator Bill Holtzclaw stopped by to show his support of fellow service members.
Like its Virginia counterpart, M2C-HSV garnered wide praise from attendants. Stated one participant:
“The event was excellent and [the folks at NMR] deserve heartfelt thanks. Honestly, I had attended a job fair at an event a few weeks earlier that shot my confidence severely. It was done hastily and the feedback I received on my résumé and interviewing was not encouraging. I came away from the NMR event with my confidence restored and with some personal momentum. The presenters were good, [and] the one-on-one time at résumés, interviews, and social media were invaluable to me personally.”
Due to the success of this event, plans are underway for a second M2C in the Huntsville area. For more information and updates, please visit http://www.nmrconsulting.com/programs/m2c/.
