HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Jan. 1, 2015 – NMR Consulting (NMR), a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is proud to announce that Business Area Manager Leigh Thigpen has been elected to the position of mentor chairperson for the Women’s Economic Development Council (WEDC). The WEDC strengthens the position of women in business and the North Alabama community by providing opportunities for leadership and economic development through education, mentoring and networking.
“We are extremely proud of Leigh and the work she does in Huntsville,” said NMR Consulting Vice President David Jones. “She consistently donates of her time and talents to give back to the community in which she lives.”
An appointed position by the WEDC board, the mentor chairperson establishes monthly speaking engagements, development events, leadership training, and networking opportunities for the Council’s 130 female members.
“This year we are focusing on connecting through leadership,” said Leigh. “As mentor chairperson, I hope to help our members feel their value and self-worth by providing growth and educational opportunities.”
These opportunities are education-driven, and include monthly luncheons with subject matter experts, committee meetings, and networking events, as well as the Council’s annual conference.
“I am humbled to lead this committee,” said Leigh. “Our members have the potential to be great leaders and I look forward to being a part of their growth.”
