NMR Consulting’s M2C Program Continues to Help Veterans Transition to the Civilian Workforce
CHANTILLY, Va., Sept. 18, 2013 – Another group of veterans and transitioning service members has hailed NMR Consulting’s Military-to-Civilian (M2C) Transition Assistance Program a success. The daylong workshop earned notable reviews from its 12 participants, who were seeking to hone their career-seeking skills and learn about the civilian job market.
Bobby Akers, M2C participant and transitioning Marine, said, “I had the opportunity and pleasure to attend this Transition Assistance program… With 20 years in the Marine Corps, I have been through several similar programs geared to help transitioning service members. The one provided by NMR Consulting is by far the most effective and helpful I have seen or had the pleasure to take part in.”
Held at NMR’s Va. headquarters, M2C’s daylong workshop consisted of three interactive sessions: Interviewing Techniques, Résumé Writing, and Social Media. Each session taught transitioning and recently separated service men and women different skills to effectively navigate the civilian job market, thereby increasing their chances for a successful transition.
One-on-one interaction with instructors and assistants gave each M2C participant personal attention, ensuring their individual needs and goals were met.
“Supporting American veterans is a cause NMR believes in deeply. It is an honor to express that through this program,” said David Garcia, NMR’s president and CEO. “M2C gives veterans an opportunity to talk with experts and ask the questions specific to their situations. To have the most impact, we try to make it as individualized as possible.”
M2C was presented by NMR’s staff and representatives from other organizations including Applied Memetics, Citizant, ClearedJobs.net, Digital Sandbox, Effective Software Solutions, Inc. (ESSI), Fluet Huber + Hoang, and Strategies for Human Resources.
NMR plans to hold the next M2C Program in January 2014.
