How did you find NMR?
Through my husband. When my husband and I first met he worked as a subcontractor onsite supporting NMR’s contract.
What is your job title at NMR? Describe what you do.
Project Manager Crew Lead/ Project Manager.
In my role, I serve as both a supervisor to the Project Management Team and carry a workload of projects to manage.
In a supervisory capacity, I support the Project Managers with project assignment, addressing challenges, customer concerns, and day-to-day procedural questions and guidance. I also play a large role in defining and documenting processes and procedures associated with various areas throughout the contract.
In a Project Manager capacity, I serve as the central role for the Project Team insuring that requirements, risk, cost, schedule and timelines are understood and managed.
How long have you been with NMR?
I have been with NMR since July 6th 2020.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
I always love the first demo I give to a customer for their new product or solution. They’ve had this concept in their head for so long. When they get their first look at the amazing product our team has developed they are excited, and so grateful. They have that kid-on-Christmas-morning energy.
What made you choose to work at NMR?
With my husband subcontracted to NMR, I was able to attend the yearly NMR Gala. It was an impressive event to say the least. I was most astonished that leadership not only knew the majority of the employees by name, but could ask them specific questions related to their work or life. The employees were not just cogs in the machine. This type of culture ultimately made me choose to work at NMR.
(Mickey sang at this particular Gala – It probably added to the “magic”!)
What are some of the most rewarding aspects of your job?
I previously mentioned delivering solutions to customers, but I would also say celebrating my team’s big wins, being able to quantify the success of a project and closing out those long, drawn-out projects.
What are some job challenges that you face?
As a contractor, you don’t always have the authority to direct other associate contractors. This is even more of a challenge when they are a major dependency and it’s delaying your project.
What makes NMR different from your past workplaces?
The willingness to share knowledge. In past workplaces it was like direct employees hoarded information, knowledge and skills for fear that “the competition” (their co-worker) would be able to get the charge code over them. At NMR I have noticed that if you want to learn, your co-workers are willing and eager to teach. They would rather raise you up and have the organization look better as a whole, then hoard information and be the single superstar.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Thrifting and flea markets.
Where is somewhere that you’ve never been but would love to go to?
Thailand.
Is there a hobby that you would like to try?
Huntsville’s curling league.
What song is currently on repeat?
“Right Here, Right Now” – Dirtyphonics and “This is the life” – LIZOT & KYANU
